For my last project I decided to do stiffiling. My first step was finding a picture then sketching it out lightly so I could erase the lines. After that cleaned up the lines by erasing them and redrawing. Later I started dotting on the lines and filling in the shadows. A pro of this was the outcome. I like how different the outcome looks and I like how detailed the rose looks when drawn in the stiffiling style. A con of this project was how much time it took. Dotting out the shadows took up a long time. It also took a while to get all the folds and creases right.

Art Criticism The first thing you should do when critiquing art tell he artist something you like about the artwork. The second thing you should do is ask the artist a question about the artwork. The third thing you should do is interpret the artwork. interpretation as in identify the mood and what feeling is communicated. The last thing you should do is give the artist a suggestion about the artwork. This was probably one of my most successful projects in this class. What I like most about this painting is the detail in the water fall and how poly chromed the water is. I wanted to display a relaxing mood so that explains the waterfall and leave colors in this painting I messed up a lot but later in those mistakes turned the painting even better. What I would want to know is how to paint rocks correctly. This is because I feel like I painted the rocks in an messy way. That was one of the problems I had while painting this. The shadow of the trees that were cast on the rocks were hard to get right, so I had to freehand it for a little bit. Next something I would work more on would be the background. There should be more trees and I would of painted them a bit more realistic. 1. What Is Art? - Art is the expression through creative skill and imagination. Art could be made in the form of painting and sculpting. It could be an expression of the artist's imaginative ideas, concepts,or emotions. Many pieces are appreciated for their complexity, beauty, or emotional power. 2. Warm up That I Found Most Interesting/Beneficial - The warm up I felt was most beneficial were the face portions. During this activity we were taught how to draw a head and face step by step. We started off with a circle for part of the head then built off of that. I chose this over the rest of the warm ups because I could apply this to many of my future drawings. This also helped me greatly when drawing my self portrait. 3. What Medium Did You Enjoy Working The Most With? - The medium I enjoyed working the most with was pen. Pen was my favorite medium because I loved the way shadows looked when doing the stifling style. A style I didn't do but I wish I would have explored would be cross hatching. I like how the outcome of cross hatching looks. 4. Which Project Would You Do?
- If I were to do over any project it would be the charcoal piece. Since this was first time using charcoal it was somewhat messy. I also smudged it many times during the process of drawing out the background. I would also change the the theme and go with a flower or anything like that. - The most helpful warm up was the face proportions. This was very helpful because it helped set up the face for my portrait project.
- What I found most surprising about the facial proportions was that it's easier to draw the head then after that you draw the hair. I thought it would be easier drawing the hair while drawing the face. - This portrait is of my cousin from California.
- Did this drawing medium using pencil. - My process from start to finish involved a lot of erasing and smudging. In the beginning I drew out the face I had a little trouble drawing the nose and the head shape right. Then after I drew the facial features I moved on to the head scarf which was the hardest part for me. Then I finished it off by making little lines then smudging them in for the skin tone. - What I found successful was the smudging and the eyes. What I might change about this is how I drew the nose. -This piece shows off the theme of line in many ways. One example is the waves in the block. The waves are made out of distinct curved lines and the bottom of one of the clouds is made up of a single line.
